Obituary of Charles Berry

Charles E. 'Charlie' Berry Sr ,84, of Harrisburg, died on Wednesday, July 4, 2018 in UPMC Pinnacle Community Osteopathic Hospital.

Charlie was born on November 7, 1933, to the late Charles E. and Catherine Breach Berry.

He retired after 45 years of service with the City of Harrisburg Bureau of Fire, as Sr. Assistant Fire Chief. Charlie was a member of the International Association of Fire Fighters Local 428 of Harrisburg. He was an avid fisherman, enjoyed golfing, and boating. Charlie's main passion was lounging in his pool and working on his tan. He also loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Charlie is survived by his wife of 28 years Virginia A. Snyder Berry: five children, Deborah A. Conrath (Bill) of Mount Joy, Kim E. Comrey (Bob) of Harrisburg, Kathy J. Varner (Ray) of Rutherford, Charles E Berry Jr. (Amy) of Blain, and Steven A. Berry (Maria) of Steelton. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his first wife Gloria E. Chellew Berry.

Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, July 11, 2018 at 11 am in the Rockville United Methodist Church, 4386 N 6th St. Harrisburg, with the Rev. Karen Atanasoff, officiating. A Viewing will be held from 9 to 11am on Wednesday in the church. Burial will be in the Union Cemetery, Duncannon. Arrangements by Wiedeman Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Harrisburg.
