Obituary of Margaret Murray

Margaret A. Smej Murray, 90, of Steelton, died Monday, August 6, 2018 in her home.

She was a member of the former St. Peter's Roman Catholic Church, Steelton, where she served as the Parish Organist and Cantor for 57 years. She played for numerous weddings, funerals, liturgies and other celebrations. She was a graduate of Harrisburg Catholic High School and attended Misericordia University, Dallas. She was a loving caregiver for her handicapped daughter for 59 years. Marge was a member of Prince of Peace Roman Catholic Parish, Steelton and St. Aloysius Lodge No. 42 KSKJ. She was an avid crossword puzzle and sudoku enthusiast.

She was the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Horvath Smej and the widow of David W. Murray, to whom she was married for 51 years. Marge is survived by three daughters, Christina Pollard and her husband, David of Harrisburg, Regina Mowery and her husband, Richard of Mechanicsburg, and Margaret Mary Murray of Hummelstown; five grandchildren, Monica Vajda and husband, Stephen, David Pollard, Jr., Daniel Pollard, Rev. Richard J. Mowery, Administrator of Christ the King Parish, Benton and Chaplain of Newman House at Bloomsburg University, and Bryan A. Mowery and his wife, Melissa; six great grandchildren, Devin, Mackenzie, Taylor, Alexander, Christopher, and Reagan. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Martha Murray.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, August 13, 2018 at 11:00 am in Prince of Peace-Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Roman Catholic Church with Rev. Richard J. Mowery, her grandson, as celebrant. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery. A viewing will be held on Monday from 9:00 am until 10:30 am in Wiedeman Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 357 S. Second St., Steelton.
