Obituary of David Hocker
David R. Hocker, 94, of Swatara Township, died Friday, September 14, 2018 in Helen Simpson Select Rehabilitation Center at UPMC Community General.
He was a retired Mail Room Supervisor for Capital Blue Cross, Harrisburg, a US Army Air Corps Veteran of WWII, member of Halifax United Methodist Church; member of William S. Snyder Lodge 756 FandAM, Harrisburg Consistory Chapter of Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, Tall Cedars of Lebanon-Harrisburg Forest 43; Shriners of North America, Zembo Temple Yacht Club, life member of Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 107, Marysville; Life Member of VFW Post 7463, New Bloomfield, and a 62 year member of American Legion Post 1001, Harrisburg.
David was the widower of Jean A. Holsberger Hocker and is survived by 2 daughters, Debbie J. Orlak and husband Al, New Orleans; Barb E. Shutt and husband Don, Fisherville; two grandsons, Joshua D. Shutt, Swatara Township and Jesse L. Shutt, Fisherville; several nieces and nephews; two step-sisters, Earlene Royston and Nola Weeks and his Cat, Buddy. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Charles, Clarence and Chester.
Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, September 22, 2018 at 11:00 am in Wiedeman Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc, 357 S. Second Street, Steelton. Burial at the conclusion of services will be in Churchville Cemetery, Oberlin. There will be no viewing or visitation.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Wounded Warrior Project or Helen O. Krause Animal Foundation, Inc.
