Obituary of Joseph Rhone

Joseph O. "Joe" Rhone, 84, of Oberlin, PA, passed away on Sunday, September 16, 2018 at his home, with his wife by his side. On July 5, 1969, he married the love of his life, Catherine (Kate) Tadych Rhone.

Joe graduated in 1953 from The Milton Hershey School, where he excelled in football, baseball and basketball. He was inducted into The Milton Hershey Sports Hall of Fame in October 2015. After high school, he served in the US Army in the 1950's. After returning from his service in the US Army, he worked for UGI Corporation for 42 years before retiring in 1997. Joe always enjoyed hunting with his buddies and was also an avid golfer. He loved watching sports on television, especially rooting for his favorite basketball team, the Kentucky Wildcats and his baseball team, the Boston Red Sox. He was an active and lifetime member of the Penn Harris Gun Club and The Golden Embers UGI Retirement Group.

In addition to his wife, Kate, he is survived by his children, Joseph Rhone, Nicholas Rhone and his wife, Alison, and Jennifer Rhone Harvey and her husband, Paul. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Mary Michelle Rhone Skinner, who passed away January of this year. He leaves behind 8 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and several cousins, nieces and nephews.

Joe and his wife loved to travel and enjoyed spending time together with family and friends. Joe was a proud husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather and cherished his time spent with family.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, September 21, 2018 at 11:00 am in Wiedeman Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 357 S. Second St., Steelton with Rev. Dr. Alan C. Wenrich officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Middletown. A viewing will be held on Friday from 10:00 am until 11:00 am in the funeral home.
