Obituary of Carmelia Urich

Carmelia (Carm) Santeusanio Urich, 92, of Highspire died Monday, April 1, 2019 in her home.

She retired as a Senior Executive Administrator from the former AMP Incorporated, Harrisburg, PA.

She is a member of Prince of Peace Roman Catholic Parish, Steelton and a member of the former St. Ann's Roman Catholic Parish, Steelton, where she served as a Lector and Eucharistic Minister. She was a Life Member and past president of the Harrisburg Diocesan Council of Catholic Women (CCW), Dauphin District CCW and St. Ann's and Prince of Peace CCW's.

On the National level, she served as Secretary, National Council of Catholic Women (NCCW), Province Director of Philadelphia representing the Dioceses of Greensburg, Harrisburg, Pittsburgh, Scranton and Buffalo, NY on the National Council of Catholic Women Board. She was elected Liaison to the National Board representing all the Province Directors within the USA. In addition to serving on the NCCW Commission Chair Committees Membership and Organization, she served on the Standing Rules and Procedures updating committee and chaired the Resolutions Committee for the year 2003.

She was a former State Secretary - Pennsylvania Congress of Parents and Teachers, served on the State Board as a Publicity Chairman, past president of Lower Dauphin District PTA, Steelton and Highspire PTA's and was presented with a Life Membership.

Carm served as president and held various chairmanships for the International Associates of Administrative Professionals - Harrisburg Chapter; Chairman - Future Secretaries Association, PA Division, IAAP.

She was a member of the Highspire Historical Society, former president and member of the Highspire Garden Club, Highspire Women's Republican Club, Highspire Alumni Association, Den Mother for the Boy Scouts of America and a Girl Scout Leader.

Carmelia enjoyed gardening, traveling, reading and volunteering for her church and their organizations. Spending time with grandchildren, great-grandchildren and family were the highlights of her life.

She was the daughter of the late Jane Intrieri Santeusanio and Nicola Santeusanio and is survived by her sons, John M. Urich, Highspire and Scott N. Urich and girlfriend, Cathy Nicodemus, Highspire; three granddaughters, Jennifer Lau and her husband Marty, Allison Bircher and her husband Brian, and Kimberly Emlet and husband Wesley; great-grandchildren Zoey and Finn Lau and Logan, Gavin and Rowan Bircher, Kora and Baby Boy Emlet on the way, one sister, Evelyn E. Shields, Highspire; two brothers, Anthony D. (Tony) Santeusanio, Hershey, Samuel J. Santeusanio, Highspire; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her sister, Joanne Santeusanio (Jennie) Kern.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, April 5, 2019 at 11:00 am, in Prince of Peace - Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Roman Catholic Church, with the Very Rev. David L. Danneker, Pastor, Celebrant. Burial at the conclusion of Mass will be in Holy Cross Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Friday from 9:00 am - 10:30 am in Wiedeman Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 357 South Second Street, Steelton

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Prince of Peace Roman Catholic Parish, 815 South Second Street, Steelton, PA 17113.
