Obituary of Elsbeth Guanowsky
Elsbeth Scholz Guanowsky, 89, died on Wednesday June 26, 2019, at Aristacare at Hearthside, in State College.
She was born on August 10, 1929 in Silesia, Germany, to the late Otto and Flora Scholz. Elsbeth was of the Lutheran Faith, and a member at the Redeemer Lutheran Church in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.
She is survived by her children, Doris (Sydney) Guanowsky of State College, two sons, Victor Guanowsky of State College; and Glenn Aleksandr Guanowsky and spouse Carol of Allentown. She is also survived by two grandsons Taras Dimitry Guanowsky; and Yuri Edward Guanowsky and numerous nephews in Germany. Elsbeth was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband Dimitry Guanowsky, a survivor of the Buchenwald concentration camp who passed in 1980; one son Dale Guanowsky; her brothers Horst and Kurt and sister Dora.
During her life, Elsbeth worked for a number of employers including the Harrisburg School District and the Pennsylvania State Senate. During her life she made many friends who enjoyed her humor and unique outlook on life. She loved animals and the pets she owned throughout her life, benefited greatly from the loving home she provided.
Graveside services and burial will be held on Tuesday, July 2, 2019 at 1:00 pm, in East Harrisburg Cemetery, 2260 Herr Street, Harrisburg, with family speaking. There will be no public viewing or visitation. Arrangements by Wiedeman Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc. Harrisburg.
