Obituary of Nicanor Martinez, Sr.
Nicanor Rojas Martinez, Sr., 80, of Highspire, went to be with Jesus on Monday, July 29, 2019 at home.
He was born in Hormigueros, Puerto Rico to the late Baudilio Rojas and Andrea Martinez. Nicanor worked for 56 years in the Hotel Industry and was a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church, Harrisburg.
Nicanor's greatest joys in life were whistling, baseball and football. He was a fan of the Phillies and Eagles and loved spending time with his family, friends and his in-laws.
He is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Dawn L. (Wilson) Martinez; 8 children, Benita Martinez, Oberlin, Nicanor Martinez, Jr., Middletown, Victor (Kathy) Martinez, Camp Hill, Tonita Martinez, Scottsdale, AZ, Michelle (Robert) Cotton, Arkansas, John (Leslie) Wilson, York, Tammy (Dan) Monahan, Elizabethtown; 15 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; 4 brothers, Luis Martinez, Mario Rojas, Rafael Martinez, Milton (Miriam) Martinez; one sister, Ramona Martinez, all living in Puerto Rico; numerous nieces and nephews.
Nicanor was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Karen Myers; one brother, Jose Martinez; two sisters, Carmen Rojas Martinez and Ana Rojas Martinez.
A viewing will be held on Saturday, August 3, 2019 from 10:00 am - 11:00 am in Cornerstone Baptist Church, 1099 Highspire Road, Harrisburg. Funeral Services will begin at 11:00 am in the Church.
