Obituary of John Szada, Sr.
John A. Szada, Sr., 94, of Steelton, died Friday, August 23, 2019 in UPMC Pinnacle Harrisburg Hospital.
He was a retired Conductor and Brakeman for Conrail, a US Army Veteran of World War II, and a member of the former St. James Roman Catholic Church, Steelton and a member of Prince of Peace Roman Catholic Parish, Steelton.
John was the son of the late Alex Szada and Mary Olsavsky Szada and the widower of Barbara A. Dragovic Szada. He is survived by two daughters, Dr. Maryjo Szada of Steelton and Tina Szada of Harrisburg; and two sons, Rev. John A. Szada, Jr. of Elysburg and Joseph Szada of Texas; grandchildren Tracie Sullivan, Harrisburg and Mackenzie Pugh, Middletown. He was preceded in death by his beloved son, Stephen Szada.
Mass of Christian Burial will be con-celebrated on Thursday, August 29, 2019 at 11:00 am in Prince of Peace-Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Roman Catholic Church, . 815 S. Second St., Steelton with Rev. John A. Szada, Jr., his son, as Principal Celebrant. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery. A viewing will be held on Wednesday from 7:00 until 9:00 pm in Wiedeman Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 357 S. Second St., Steelton. Recitation of the rosary at 8:30 pm.
