Obituary of Arthur Speese
Arthur H. Speese, 87, of Mechanicsburg, a veteran of the United States Air Force and Air National Guard of PA, passed away at his home on Friday, November 1, 2019, with his family by his side. Born September 5, 1932, in Harrisburg, he was the son of the late Gilbert and Mildred Uhland Speese. Fondly known by his family and friends as Art, he is survived by his wife, Janet Brackbill-Speese and daughters Sherry (Robert) Enterline, Brenda Speese, and Cindy (Eric) Hershey; grandchildren Kara Enterline, Zachary (Andrea) Enterline and Kendra Hershey; sister Gladys (Lewis) Ritter and brother Charles "Barry" Speese (Sherry), sisters-in-law, Maryann Speese, Dolores Speese and Donna Speese. He was predeceased by his first wife Betty Beck Speese, grandson, Justin Hershey, brothers Gilbert, Richard, and Lewis, sisters Dorothy Conley and Linda Kay Speese. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, was a Penn State and Pittsburgh Steelers fan, a member of Saint Mark's Lutheran Church, Mechanicsburg, the Penn Harris Gun Club, and American Legion Post 26, Dillsburg. In earlier years, was a volunteer at the Telephone Pioneers Sports Jamboree held annually at Fort Indiantown Gap, as well as coaching Girls Softball. He retired from Bethlehem Steel Corporation. Viewings will be held on Wednesday, November 6, 2019 from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm and on Thursday, November 7, 2019 from 10:30 am until time of services in Wiedeman Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 357 South Second Street, Steelton. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, November 7, 2019 at 11:30 am in the funeral home with Rev. Marleen Griffith-Stull officiating. Burial at the conclusion of services will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.
