Obituary of Richard Schlodynske

Richard F. Schlodynske, 80 of Lower Paxton Township, died Wednesday, December 4, 2019 in the Penn State - M.S. Hershey Medical Center. He was retired from the United States Air Force with 20 years of services and the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania - Department of Public Welfare. Richard was a member of St. Catherine Laboure Roman Catholic Church and was a 44 year member of the Rutherford Heights Lions Club and was a Melvin Jones Fellow. Richard was the son of the late Adolf Schlodynske and Frieda Bureckert Schlodynske. He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Theresa M. Fure Schlodynske; three daughters, Tracy M. Hammaker, West Hanover Twp., Monica L. Mosey and husband Steve, Harrisburg and Erin N. Kurtz, West Hanover Twp.; one sister, Inge Ziemathis and husband Klaus, Edgewater, FL; 11 grandchildren, Ethan, Amber, Danielle and Connor Hammaker; Steven, Benjamin, Samantha and Nathaniel Mosey; Brandon LaVia; Andrew and Gethin Kurtz; one great-grandson, Jackson King. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, December 10, 2019 at 11:00 am in St. Catherine Laboure Roman Catholic Church, 4000 Derry Street, Swatara Twp., with the Rev. James Lease, Pastor, Celebrant. Entombment, with full military honors, in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery will be held on Thursday, December 26, 2019, at 1:00 pm. Family and friends are invited to assemble directly at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery. A viewing will be held on Tuesday from 9:30 am - 11:00 am in the Adoration Chapel of St. Catherine's. Funeral Arrangements are being handled by Wiedeman Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., Steelton.
