Obituary of Larry Neal

Larry L. Neal, 76, of Steelton, died Tuesday, March 17, 2020 in his home. He was a 1961 graduate of Steelton-Highspire High School, a member of the PA National Guard and retired as an Inspector for PennDOT with 30 years of service, and was a part time employee of VE Engineering. He was a PIAA High School and College Basketball Official, coached baseball in Steelton and played baseball and softball for many years. Larry played in the Williamsport Little League World Series in 1955 and was a 50-year member of Centenary United Methodist Church, Swatara Twp. He was a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather and faithful friend. He loved the Green Bay Packers and the St. Louis Cardinals. Larry was the son of the late Stanley and Berniece Neal and preceded in death by a grandson, Jordan M. Griffin. He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Shirley A. Neal; one son, Scott B. Neal and his wife, Tawn; one daughter, Lara K. Griffin and her husband, George; seven grandchildren, Tyler Neal, Zachary Neal, Gavin Neal, Xavier Griffin, Isiah White, Damen Griffin, and Kayla Henry; a sister-in-law, Polly Barlow and husband, Mike; niece, BethAnne Holman and husband, Jordan; nephew, John Barlow and wife, Brandi; two great nieces, Chelsea Warren and Brittany Warren; his extended family Emilee Salinger Barwin, McKenna Donley, Jessica Garcia and Jenna Bare, and Larry's childhood and lifelong friend, James W. (Slater) Martin; and two longtime friends, Ken Salov and Peter Velencia. Due to the corona virus restrictions, the Viewing and Graveside Service will be PRIVATE. Rev. Robert Ryder, his Pastor, will officiate. Arrangements are being handled by Wiedeman Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Steelton. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Centenary United Methodist Church, 1010 Orchard Dr., Harrisburg, PA 17113 or PA Wounded Warriors Project, 1117 Country Club Rd., Camp Hill, PA 17011 or Residential Hospice, 100 Sterling Parkway, #110, Mechanicsburg, PA 17050. So much thanks to Residential Hospice for the excellent care given to Larry while he was at home. Their dedication and compassion was extremely appreciated by our family.
