Obituary of Anne M. Grasha

Anne M. Grasha, age 98, died peacefully on April 17, 2020, at Country Meadows, Mechanicsburg, PA. She was born in Croatia on November 26, 1921, to the late Michael and Dora Skorija. She came to America in 1929. Anne was married to Anthony Grasha for 68 years. He preceded her in death in 2009. Her two brothers, Joseph and Charles Skorija, also preceded her in death. Anne was a woman of deep Catholic faith and strong moral values. She was very active at Sacred Heart Church, where she helped at the school and was a member of the Council of Catholic Women. Upon the closure of Sacred Heart, she became a member of St. Patrick’s Cathedral and enjoyed many years of love and friendship with her Cathedral congregation. Anne was a gifted writer and always enjoyed staying in touch with family and friends, sharing her thoughts and feelings through her writing. Over recent years, she enjoyed coloring and sharing that artwork with her loved ones. Anne was a devoted mother to her three daughters, Dottie Irwin, Susan Kelly, and Jan Santanna, and their husbands who she considered her “sons”, Bill Irwin, Pat Kelly and Tom Santanna. She was a beloved “Grandma” to eight grandchildren, who brought so much joy and pride to her throughout her life: Bill Irwin (Tavia), Brian Irwin (Jessica), Jeff Irwin (Jeannie), Joe Kelly, Stephen Kelly (Katie), Tom Santanna (Marisa), Laura Lonergan (Chris), Dominic Santanna (Megan). Her joy continued as “Grammy” to her 11 great-grandchildren: Sara, Victoria, Spencer, Jeffrey, Abigail, June, Madeline, Connor, Miles, Nolan and Wyatt. She also adored her nieces, nephews, and many family and friends, as well as her beloved caretakers at Country Meadows and LifeSong Hospice. A Memorial Mass will be held in the future at St. Joseph’s Church, Mechanicsburg by her Pastor and friend, Father Thomas Rozman. A private burial has taken place.
